Who we are
Filtr ("we", "us") is an iOS app for scanning food products and reporting ultra-processing and additive risk. This policy explains what data we collect and how we use it. Questions: hello@getfiltr.app.
What we collect
- Account: email address and a hashed password (handled by Supabase Auth).
- Scan history: the barcodes you scan and when, used to show your history and weekly digest.
- Preferences: allergens, diet, additives to avoid, notification choices.
- Saved pantry: barcodes you mark as saved (Pro only).
- Subscription state: plan, status and renewal date — synced from Apple via RevenueCat.
- Device info: basic diagnostic data (OS version, crashes) when available.
What we don't collect
- Photos. Barcode scanning runs entirely on-device; nothing is uploaded.
- Location.
- Contacts.
- Advertising identifiers.
How we use your data
- Operate the app — show your scans, history, pantry, score products.
- Authenticate you (Supabase) and process subscriptions (Apple StoreKit, RevenueCat).
- Send transactional email (sign-up confirmation, password reset) and the optional weekly digest you can disable in preferences.
- Diagnose crashes and improve the product.
We do not sell your personal data. We do not show advertising.
Sub-processors
- Supabase — auth + database (data stored in AWS Sydney region).
- RevenueCat — subscription management.
- Apple — App Store, StoreKit, in-app purchases.
- Open Food Facts — public product database; we send a product barcode to look up information.
- Vercel — hosting for our marketing site and webhook.
Your rights
You can:
- Access and edit your preferences in-app at Account → Preferences.
- Permanently delete your account and all associated data from Account → Danger zone → Delete account. Deletion is immediate and irreversible.
- Cancel your subscription via Apple ID → Subscriptions in iOS Settings.
- Email hello@getfiltr.app for a copy of your data.
Under the Australian Privacy Act 1988, you may also lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
Retention
We keep your data for as long as your account exists. Deleting your account immediately removes profile, scans, history, pantry and preferences. Subscription records may be retained by Apple and RevenueCat according to their own policies.
Children
Filtr is not intended for use by children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes
We may update this policy. Material changes will be communicated via email and in-app notice. Continuing to use Filtr after a change means you accept it.
